Circus of Spectacle

Bright lights, loud music, and the smell of popcorn are in the air. You venture forward into a wondrous place, where your curiosity is met with the roaring music and laughter from a bustling crowd.

"The Circus of Spectacle" is a collaborative project between David Eisenstadt, Rain Rouhani, Alena Mealy, and myself. David and I acted as generalists for the project, helping each other out in all departments. Rain Rouhani was the character artist, who sculpted all of the human and animal characters. Alena Mealy was the grooming artist, who created all of the hair/fur in Yeti. The project was conceived by David, Rain, and myself, but Rain acted as the primary 2D concept artist for the project.

It is impossible to credit one individual artist for any given shot in this project, as it was a HIGHLY collaborative effort. The shots and assets were constantly passed back and forth between artists, and David and I both contributed a lot to each shot. Some of the responsibilities that David and I shared included modeling, texturing, set assembly, lighting, rendering, character retopo, UVs, character shading, posing, and more. Character retopo and UV responsibilities were also shared with Rain Rouhani.

This project was originally designed to be rendered in Maya with V-Ray, but was eventually migrated to Unreal Engine 5.1 for its ease of rendering. All final renders are from Unreal, with light comp treatment on top of them.

This was one of the projects that I created while in my Demo Reel terms at Gnomon. Thank you to Miguel Ortega for the healthy dose of reality and feedback, to Dakota Smith for the cloth simulation, and to Sasha Honcharova for additional support.
