Earlier this year I was lucky enough to work with my mentors Tran Ma and Miguel Ortega (Half M.T. Studios) on their animated film, "The Threadlings". I was responsible for designing, modeling, and texturing many of the supporting assets in the project. The film is rendered entirely in Unreal Engine 5, so I've chosen to display my props in Unreal Engine as well. It was a fun challenge learning Tran's workflow for these assets, as they are modeled almost entirely in Marvelous Designer. How do you make a trophy look like cloth? You simulate real cloth, of course! Beyond that, the props were all textured in Substance Painter.
You can learn more about the process, workflow, and production of The Threadlings in Half M.T's Youtube video production series, where they document the journey of making an entire film from scratch with a small team.

Tran and Miguel are two of the most inspiring artists I've ever met, and I want to thank them for trusting me to contribute to what will undoubtedly be a monument of animation. Their words of support and encouragement kept me powering through the whole time, and I value the time I spent working on Threadlings. Nobody else is doing what they're doing, and certainly not at the level of quality they do it at. I hope you all watch Threadlings when it comes out!
